Men's Germany

Die Streethockey Basis e.V. [DSHB]

Mr. Oliver Jung, (Team-Manager), from Germany's national men´s team did the following interview.

Germany about their preparation for ISBHF World Championships in St. John´s:

    1. At what stage of preparation is your team with regards to next year’s the world championships in St. John’s?
As we could confirm our participation only very late, we are still arranging our team. Due to the very high costs, not all players that wanted to come to the WC could actually afford it. Furthermore there is a problem that affects some of our very talented young players: At the time of the WC they have to pass their exams in Germany.
        2. How will the preparation continue in the next months?
As ball hockey is plaid in Germany in summer only, and our league starts in May, there is not much time for preparation. Our only possibility to get the team ready is the test game against the Czech Republic in the second half of May.
        3. Can you already tell the names of some players of your team?
As it looks right now, only three players from Bratislava are still on the team: Keeper Max Dürr and the two forwards Oleg Seibel and Daniel Brendle. Heiko Vogler who missed Bratislava due to injury, will be in St John's as well. Stefan Hagen, Robin Platz and Patrick Luschenz, three key players of last year's U20, have committed themselves as well. Further on the team will be four players from Germaringen: Michael Eisenschmidt, Stefan Kujan, Alexander Kozicz and Christian Gailhofer, the later was part of Germany's U20 in 2010. Finally the older brother of Stefan Hagen, Christof Hagen as well as two other players of the German champion, the Heilbronn Hornets, Osman Maras and Benjamin Brozicek, last years top scorer in Germany, will be on the team as well. And last but not least, we are together with the CBHA looking to get some Canadian players of German decent to complete our squad.
        4. What are the expectations you have for St. John's?
Our main goal is to keep the league and we hope that we would be able to avoid the last place in our group. Everything else, we will see during the torunament.
        5. Who will become world champion 2013, and why?
I think the final be Canada vs Czech Republic. As Canada is the home team, I guess they will win.
